2015 CLCA SFBA Landscape Awards
The Kennedy Residence, by Samscaping Inc., was the winner of the Landscape Sweepstakes Award at the 42nd Annual Beautification Awards banquet held on June 20, 2015, at the University Club of Palo Alto was a fun and rewarding night for all. Once again we were awed by the beautiful work of our members.
President Tom Ellington welcomed everyone and introduced CLCA state past presidents in attendance as well as VIPs from the Chapter and Women’s Auxiliary. He then handed the evening over to long time member Jim Borneman from Ewing Irrigation who MC’d the event in style. Jim had a story about almost everyone, and kept us laughing and cheering for the winners throughout the evening. Thank you, Jim. You made the evening superb.
A huge thank you to our judges: Herb Fong, head groundskeeper at Stanford University for over 25 years; Fred Hanker, from Delta Bluegrass; and Rick Meyers a retired Life Member. They showed up every morning of the judging ready to hit the road and visit the amazing projects on display. Thank you for the time and effort each of you put into the three long days.
It takes many people and many hours to organize the awards program and banquet. Thank you everyone who helped make the event a success including these members of the Awards Committee:
•Barry and Mary Cohen
•Van drivers and navigators
And of course, Mike Hertzer, co-chair, problem solver, computer whiz. Thank you, everyone! The awards program and banquet would not happen without everyone’s energy and support.
Congratulations to all who entered! If you did not win this year, keep on trying. Like a good bottle of wine, your skills will improve with age! See you next year.
