Auxiliary Report
Happy summer to all. It is fairly quiet for the Auxiliary but we are behind the scenes madly planning for the second half of 2023. We are looking for someone to host the Auxiliary potluck, typically held in August, and like this time last year, we are looking for a venue for the Christmas Holiday Party. If anyone has a brilliant idea for a family-friendly and cost-effective venue, please send them my way. We are exploring a few opportunities, but we would consider any and all ideas.
The Awards Banquet has come and gone. Thank you to Andrew Tuckman for organizing the program. We were a small but boisterous crowd and it was a lovely evening, renewing friendships and celebrating the work of our SFBA Chapter members. Congratulations to all of the winners.
The Auxiliary had our usual raffle at the Awards Banquet. Thanks to everyone who purchased additional tickets, we raised $210 for LEAF. The raffle winners were:
- Marin Villalpando Jr. won the basket by Ana Cooper of Frank and Grossman.
- Laurie Tamura of Tamura Designs won the basket by Girvin and Lesley Peters.
- Mark Sebben of Bayscape Management won the basket by Vicky Parrott.
Thank you to Vicky, Ana and Girvin for making a basket and congratulations to the winners. Enjoy your winnings.
The Chapter Picnic is coming up on September 10th at Cuesta Park in Mountain View. Come join your CLCA friends and family for a great barbecue, fun games for all ages and of course the horseshoe tournament. All are welcome, including your employees and their families. A Constant Contact will go out in August for you to sign up in advance. As you can imagine (or maybe you can’t), buying food for a barbecue for 50 people or more can be challenging. We really need to know in advance how many people are coming. Look for the Constant Contact and RSVP as soon as possible. I look forward to meeting new people and welcoming friends to the picnic on September 10.
Enjoy the summer. Hope to see you at a CLCA event soon.

Chapter Picnic
The Chapter Picnic is right around the corner! Come join your CLCA family at the Chapter Picnic at Cuesta Park in Mountain View on Sunday, September 10, starting at 11 a.m. The horseshoe tournament will start promptly at 11 a.m., with a barbecue lunch at 12:30 p.m. Thank you to our picnic committee (Chair Rick Camin, Alice Domine, Vicky Parrott, Michelle Ott, Cindy Singletary, Girvin and Lesley Peters, and Charlene and Leo Ott) for putting this event together.
Games for all ages will be available throughout the day. Start practicing your horseshoe skills. Ed and Jonathon Ott are still the team to beat. With last year’s cancellation due to rain (go figure!), the Ott’s are still the defending champions. I have a feeling a Domine team is anxious to reclaim the trophy.
Dust off your recipe’s! We are bringing back the cookie/dessert competition this year, as well as the chili cook-off. We have some awesome bakers and cooks in this group, young and old, and it is refreshing to see old family recipes being passed down to the next generation. A reservation form will be available in the August newsletter and a Constant Contact invitation will go out in August also. Pricing is the same as last year, $10 for adults and kids 12 and over, $5 for children under 12.
A day filled with great food, great fun, and great friends. How could you go wrong with this combination? I look forward to seeing you there. CLICK HERE to register by mail and pay with a check or CLICK HERE to register and pay online.
