Auxiliary Report
Merry Christmas…I mean happy fall! I don’t want to get ahead of myself. The holidays are busy enough without me getting you all mixed up and confused. Hope everyone had a safe and not too scary Halloween! Time to move on to Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Hanukkah. Enjoy the lull before the storm.
Our last Auxiliary meeting of 2025 at Cafe Pro Bono in Palo Alto has come and gone. We were a small group of eight. Thank you everyone in attendance (Beth Valdez, Girvin Peters, Vicky Parrott, Rick Camin, myself, Charlene Ott, Jackie Marsey and Scooter Wren) and a BIG thank you to President Beth Valdez for hosting us. It was a little noisy in the restaurant so here is a summary of what we discussed (both for those not in attendance and for those in attendance who couldn’t hear!):
- The upcoming Christmas Party was at the top of the agenda. In case you missed last month’s newsletter, the Christmas Party is Sunday, December 14 at Mezza Luna Restaurant in Half Moon Bay from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The price is $95 per person and the Constant Contact will go out in early November (thank you Laura Leuer for putting it together). Charlene Ott graciously agreed to do table decorations and I’m sure she will receive help from Vicky Parrott and Alice Domine (and anyone else who wants to assist). We will be doing an ornament exchange again this year and the Auxiliary will be collecting donations for Toys For Tots. We will also have our usual raffle benefitting LEAF and we will have four items to raffle off. Thank you to Charlene Ott, Mary Cohen and Vicky Parrott for agreeing to make a basket and thank you to the Chapter board for providing a mystery gift. Everything is always well-received.
- A date for the 2026 Chapter Picnic has been set for Sunday, September 13, 2026 at Cuesta Park in Mountain View. Thank you, Rick Camin, for making the reservation and agreeing to chair the committee again.
- We discussed different LEAF fundraising ideas in addition to our regular monthly raffles. I will work with the Chapter board to pursue our idea to return the betting hole to the Golf Tournament, assuming we can work out the details. We have almost a year to figure it out!
- We agreed to a slate of officers for 2026 (same as last year so not much to report there) and we did vote on an Auxiliary member of the year, who shall remain nameless until later.
- We agreed to donate $1,500 to LEAF ($500 each to the James and Pamela Everett Fund, the Richard and Cynthia Singletary Fund and the Leo and Charlene Ott Fund).
- Our first Auxiliary meeting of 2026 will be Wednesday, January 21, 2026, time and place still to be determined. We will be doing basket and committee sign-ups, further discussion on the potluck and start a conversation on the 2026 Christmas Party (yikes…so soon?!). If anyone has thoughts or would like to participate/volunteer for any of the above, please let me know.
Have a wonderful November, enjoying Thanksgiving with family and friends. See you soon.

Partner Spotlight
The Month’s Partner Spotlight is SavATree.
Our love of trees and how it got us here.
It all started with the seed of an idea. In 1978, Ralph Robbins knew that trees needed to be saved from the devastating effects of invasive Gypsy Moth Caterpillars. An entrepreneur at heart, Ralph saw an opportunity to turn his passion for tree preservation and environmental care into a business that could further the connection between people and nature, and both do good, and do well. And so, SavATree was born.
Over the years, SavATree’s expansion has grown the company to new heights, with a portfolio that now includes lawn care, deer deterrence, tick management, holiday lighting, and more.
And while we continue to evolve and explore innovative offerings, we remain forever grounded in scientific expertise, environmental stewardship, and caring for what you love.
