Auxiliary Report
Happy Fall to all! Halloween is almost here, which means Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah are right around the corner. Lots to do still before the winter holidays.
The Chapter Picnic on September 7 was a delightful event. Thank you to the 52 people who attended on a warm but not too warm Sunday. Thank you to our Picnic Committee (Rick and Marina Camin, Alice Domine, Vicky Parrott, Cindy Singletary, Girvin and Lesley Peters, Charlene Ott and Jackie Marsey and Dominic Bryan) for organizing and preparing everything in advance and for lots of assistance on Sunday. It is a huge effort by a lot of people to make the picnic a success. A full report of all of the happenings at the picnic is elsewhere in this newsletter. Again, thank you everyone for your help and contributions.
The last Auxiliary meeting of 2025 will be Wednesday, October 15 at Cafe Pro Bono in Palo Alto, starting at 6 p.m. This meeting is hosted by Chapter President Beth Valdez from Davey Tree, which means that the Chapter pays for our dinner! So come on out and enjoy a great Italian meal with friends and colleagues. A Paperless Post invitation has gone out already. We welcome all prospective new members at any of our meetings. If you would like to be on our mailing list, shoot me an email with your contact information (name, address, email address) and I will send you an application for Auxiliary membership.
Hold the presses! Save the date of Sunday, December 14 for the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter Christmas Party! This year we are going back to Mezzaluna Italian Restaurant in Princeton-By-The Sea (that’s north of Half Moon Bay for those who have never been there!) for lunch at 12:30. Enjoy the festive holiday mood with your CLCA friends and family (It is 90 degrees as I type this. A bit difficult to think rain, cold weather, tinsel and mistletoe!). More information to come at the end of October or early November.
Have a great October. Don’t let anyone play too many tricks on you for Halloween!

Chapter Picnic 2025
The Chapter Picnic is always a fun day, catching up with friends and colleagues, comparing summer activities. Thank you to the 52 people who attended the picnic on September 7 at Cuesta Park and helped make the day a fantastic CLCA event. It was warm but the Redwood grove picnic area provided shade and a cool environment. It was great to see everyone participating in games on the lawn, watching the horseshoe tournament and eating heartily of the abundant food.
The horseshoe tournament started promptly with eight teams: Joseph and Alex Domine, Kurt and Nicho Domine, Dominic Bryan and Juan Nunez, Brian Bost and Alex Cortez, Mark and Audrey Domine, Henry and Israel from Paradise Garden and Landscape, Jackie Marsey and Jim Link and Beth Valdez and Angelina Burciaga. It was exciting to the end, but there can be only one winner…Joseph and Alex Domine for the repeat win! Henry and Israel from Paradise Garden and Landscape finished second. Congratulations Joseph and Alex.
The chili and dessert competitions always bring out the cooks in our group with their best recipes. Below is the outcome of the chili and dessert competitions.
Chili competition:
Our chili judges were: Beth Valdez, Davey Tree, Zoe Domine (Alice and Camille’s granddaughter) and Larissa Alvarado, Paradise Garden and Landscape. The entrants were: Cindy Singletary, Dominic Bryan, Jackie Marsey and Alice Domine. And drum roll please! Our winners were Alice Domine in first place and Jackie Marsey in second place.
Dessert competition:
Our dessert judges were: Angelina Buriciaga, Davey Tree, Al Valdez and Simon Parrott. The entrants were: Zoe Domine, Samantha Campbell (Ernst and Brigitte Lehmann’s granddaughter), Jackie Marsey and Alice Domine. And our winners were…Alice Domine in first place again with German chocolate cupcakes and Samantha Campbell in second place with snickerdoodles.
Congratulations to our winners. We enjoyed sampling your creations and hope you will enter again next year!
The Chapter Picnic takes many hands to be a success. Thank you to our committee for working hard and making the 2025 picnic a family-friendly, fun and fantastic event.
Chair and horseshoe tournament coordinator Rick Camin, Vicky Parrott, Cindy Singletary, Charlene Ott, Alice Domine, Marina Camin, John Camin, Al and Beth Valdez, Lesley and Girvin Peters, Jackie Marsey and Dominic Bryan
